TYSON REVISITS VICTORY CIRCLE AT SHIMEK

(Farmington, Iowa) After last weeks rainout and the venture to the MCS series at Newton Kart Klub we made the return to the Shimek Speedway and it was a tough night in the heats with motor problems. The crews of Tournear, Gaylord, Westercamp, Fox and everyone who helped out thanks. Also Jeremy Marshall getting his picture taken with Tyson and Mom. We fought a tight condition all day long but finally made some adjustments to improve the kart for the driver. Tyson would finish third in the feature but after post race inspection the 15C of Cole Palmer was disqualified due to a illegal restrictor plate so Tyson took home the runner-up spot to Aaron Happs. RAIN PLAYS HAVICK AT MIDWEST CHAMPIONS SERIES RACE AT LSS

(Greenwood, Nebraska) Racing action for Tyson Paris racing hit the road for his first ever race in the junior armature division at Little Sunset Speedway in the Midwest Champions Series. This was a learning experience with the black .375 plate along with the Maxxis tires this was the first time ever on them. Tyson had motor trouble in the first heat and finished fourth and crew made the changes and the second heat and was good but missed the right gearing for the track. The crew made the changes needed and got ready for the feature and mother-nature played her game and forced the crew to cancel the program. Tyson got a nice trophy to add to his collection. We got a chance to meet a lot of different people and would like to Thank Matt DeJong on giving us a black restrictor and big thanks to Scott with Chain Draggone for his help and making the adjustments to correct the tension on the rear wheel. He was awesome to talk to and really out going. Also the 7 crew of Dusty Trail and mother of New London who always visits the trailer to talk and Zach Hahn and crew of Sigourney. The weather didn’t get any better with Sunday’s program getting called off around 10:30am when rain started falling. Tyson picked lucky number 37 in the draw and this gave him an outside front row starting spot for the heat. The night started off with bearing problems in the right rear before hot laps and the Tournear boys AJ and Richard/moback made the long trip from North Carolina and they help the 4T team with the bearing change. This couldn’t slow down the 4T machine. The track was really fast with Tyson turning his best laps of the season with 13.45 lap time in heat one. The track slowed down in the second heat but Tyson never slowed his machine down and he took the checkers in both heats setting up a pole position starting spot. Tyson was just as fast and smooth in the feature taking his third win of the 2010 season and second straight at the Shimek Speedway. RAIN SPOILS FEATURES AT SHIMEK SPEEDWAY

(Farmington, Iowa) May 15th mother-nature tried to spoil the action earlier in the week with over 6” of rain in the first four days of the week but Ben Smith made the call to get things worked in and Saturday’s action happened for awhile before things got spoiled again. The night started off very slow and never got any better with trouble in both heats with motor problems for the 4T of Tyson Paris and the crew made a motor change for the feature too only have mother-nature work her magic with the four letter word rain and we have had to much of it in 2010. With a steady rain and racing surface turning into a ice skating rink action was called off and features was awardees based off feature line-up.

SHIMEK SPEEDWAY HOLDS COLD SEASON OPENER

(Farmington, Iowa) With temps in the 50’s and lows in the 30’s and winds over 20mph it was a very cold season opener at the Shimek Speedway in Farmington. We arrived at the track and Tyson drew 22 to give him a front row starting spot in heat one and would take the runner-up spot. The second heat Tyson would start fifth with a good run making some really nice passes and would take the win. This would setup a pole position starting spot. Tyson would pace the field for the first two laps before settling in to the second spot but would spin with three laps remaining and would bring caution out. Tyson would restart fifth and would race his way back to battle for second spot but would finish third by just inches to Heuston who took second. Tyson was the youngest racer in the class with him just being six years old and handled things very well against some ten and eleven year old racers in the rookie class. We had a great time and want to thank Tyler Heckart a junior 2 driver whose stuff wasn’t ready and ventured down and helped us out. It was great seeing the Quincy Godfather Lon Tournear along with the Family Affair Racing Team with A.J. and Billy. Next week will be another visit to the Shimek Speedway.

TYSON PARIS RACING TAKES FIRST WIN OF 2010 SEASON AT NEWTON KART CLUB

(Newton, Iowa) May 1st we got word that the racing action at the Shimek Speedway along with the Show-Me Speedway was cancelled due to heavy rain on Friday night. We decided to make the trip to the Newton Kart club to checkout the 1/8 mile speedway. This was our second ever visit to the facility but first visit in a full size kart. In 2008 we visited in the kid kart division and took a third place finish. We checked in and Tyson pulled out the lucky number 85 on the draw. This would setup a back row starting spot in the first heat with six competitors in action in the putt putt class for kids 5 to 7years of age. Tyson would make his way thru the field to lead all but the final lap and would finish second in the first qualifying heat. The second heat Tyson would start from the pole position and would lead every lap for the win in heat two. This would give Tyson a pole position starting spot and Tyson would take the green and lead the field to the checkers for his first win of the 2010 season. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed talking to Sam Platt of Denver, Iowa who won the junior one class in the 3p machine. Also we want to thank the Newton Kart Club crew for an awesome racing surface and running the program very efficiently with 100 karts and program done by midnight. Next week we’ll make the venture out to run the Midwest Champions series at Waverly, Ne. if mother-nature will be kind. If we decide to stick around Southeast Iowa we’ll be at the Shimek Speedway on Saturday but check the website for sure.
